Speech…and Hate

There is no such thing as “Hate Speech”.

There is Speech…And there are codes liberal/progressives use to shut down speech they do not want to hear.

Freedom of Speech: I have the right to say what I want. I determine the meaning. And…in this day and age we must declare….I, and I alone, decide my intention.

Liberal/progressives seem to believe that the immutable right is to hear…and pass judgment. “Hate Speech” gives the listener/reader the authority. Even to declare that I said what I did with hate. To decide my motivation, if you will.

Imagine as this develops: A white person tries to keep within the lines and not say anything that is “hate speech”. He asks a black person to review his words and give him clearance to speak those words..pronouncing them not “hate speech”. Which, let’s say, she does. Then…he goes to another place. Does he need to get approval from the next black person?

Realizing how hard it would be for a white person to have to get approval from each black person for the same words…or image on a t-shirt….or a hat…liberal/progressives decide to issue identifiers (not because it should be easier for white people…but because the offended people shouldn’t have to take care of white people). So that anyone who is in the group that can be offended will know immediately that this an approved white person.

Imagine: They decide to issue badges. To be worn by the approved white person. For ease of visibility they are worn outside the clothing at all times. And in a bright color, so they can be seen even in dim light.

Badges that show the white person has been approved. Temporarily, of course. Reviewed again with the next utterance.

Just a thought extending out from the concept that the listener/hearer is the one who decides whether specific speech/image is hate.

History does not repeat itself. But echoes are there, for those who are listening. If you believe in “hate speech”, then you cannot believe in the Freedom of Speech.

.

Notice how I don’t try to offend. Never really been my style or interest. But…also notice…I decide my intention with my speech. Notice that I am not responsible for the reaction/response of the listener/hearer. Even if they are offended. That is their right/freedom. And I will not surrender that to liberal/progressives.

I might even ask…

……what if one of these days, it becomes “hate speech” to speak ill toward black people who believe in Freedom of Speech…

….what if one of these days, it becomes “hate speech” to speak ill toward a black person or a gay person who is “conservative”…

…what if one of the days, it becomes “hate speech” to speak ill toward someone who is religious, including even white Christians.

At that point….will they think power to decide speech should be in the hands of the listener/hearer?
