When you are on the Olympic team…you represent the entire country. When you take a knee, you are only about yourself and your limited, simple-minded point of view. The US Women’s Soccer Team….does not represent most of America. Gwen Berry does not represent America at all with her intentional disrespect for the country.
Protest/protesting is a fundamental right. Do it on your own time. And your own dime.
How can you determine if the “protester” is driven by honest, deliberate, intentional considerations and values: when it costs them. When Smith and Carlos raised their fists in Mexico City, they knew it would cost them. They did it out of conviction. When Kapernick and his followers like Rapinoe and Berry do it….it’s to get paid. Personal profit over moral stand.
And it’s based on fundamental dishonesty. Kapernick, Rapinoe, Berry…are some of the most privileged people in this country. Who don’t give up their privilege…which is built on the backs of others (Kapernick signed with Nike for $23 million!!!…what are Nike’s labor practices in China again???).
Subservient people take a knee. Real men (and women) stand up. You be the judge.
